This means clocks in Cranbrook, Kimberley, Fernie and the Elk Valley will not be turned back this weekend. These communities will stay on the time we’re on now.
The RDEK board decided in August, after a regional public survey was conducted with more than 14,000 participants.
Results showed a strong majority, with 89 per cent voicing that they would like to stop the semi-annual time changes and stay on a single time all year.
A further 66 per cent of respondents indicated a preference for Daylight Saving Time.
Residents are also being urged to check smoke and carbon monoxide alarms and replace batteries if needed.
