The Association of Interior Realtors says sales in the Kootenay and Boundary region fell 1.1 per cent last month compared with August 2025.
There were 274 sales recorded in August 2026, which was down from July’s 318 units sold.
The Kootenay and Boundary region recorded 354 new listings in August, down 17.5 per cent from the same month last year and below July’s 518 new listings.
The overall active listings in the Kootenay region rose 5 per cent compared to August 2025 with 1,868 recorded listings, which was below July’s 1,940 overall inventory.
“Despite challenging summer conditions, the Kootenay and Boundary real estate market continued to outperform many other markets across the province,” said Ryan Mayne, President, Association of Interior REALTORS®.
“There was a slight easing in August that slowed some of the momentum built over the last few months, but activity remains healthy.
“Listings continue to reflect the region’s typically tight supply, while remaining at a solid level heading into fall.”
The benchmark price for single-family homes in the Kootenay region rose 5.7 per cent year over year to $646,400.
Townhouse benchmark prices fell 4.2 per cent to $500,900, while condominium benchmark prices increased 12.9 per cent year over year to $353,400.
