Environment Canada has issued an Air Quality Alert for the Fort Nelson and Elk Valley areas.
Wildfire smoke from northern Alberta continues to drift westward into northeastern British Columbia, affecting the Fort Nelson area.
Elevated PM2.5 concentrations persist across the region and may remain elevated as smoke continues to be transported into the area.
Smoke is also drifting into southeastern British Columbia, affecting the East Columbia and Elk Valley area.
PM2.5 concentrations remain elevated due to ongoing cross-border smoke transport.
Smoke can cause poor air quality and reduced visibility.
Air quality is expected to improve gradually as smoke disperses.
However, elevated particulate levels may persist for some time before returning to normal.
