Motorists travelling Highway 3 in the Fernie section should be prepared for traffic delays as road resurfacing has begun.
The City of Fernie advised that the first section of asphalt resurfacing on Highway 3, between Kikomun Road and Elko, is underway.
The next section, from the Fernie Ski Hill to the east Fernie bridge (Leo T Nimsick Bridge), is planned to take place over July and August.
Work hours will be from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday, with no work on Sundays or over long weekends.
During this time, traffic will be diverted to single-lane alternating traffic, and a construction speed zone of 50km/hour will be in place, resulting in a traffic delay of approximately 20 minutes.
Please follow all posted signage.
