The City of Fernie has advised Property Tax Notices have been mailed out to all property owners on record.
If you haven’t received your tax notice, please contact City Hall at 250-423-6817 or finance@fernie.ca and request that a copy be forwarded to you.
Property taxes are due July 2, 2026, by 5 p.m.
Late submissions will incur a 10% penalty being added to any unpaid current year taxes.
The Finance department will be at the Senior Citizen Drop-In Centre today (June 1) from 10am-2pm.
Payments
Payments can be made by cash, cheque, debit, or credit card (third-party fees apply to credit card transactions).
Please allow a minimum of 5 days for the City to receive your payment from your financial institution. Receipt of your electronic payment will be recorded at the date and time the funds arrive at the City’s financial institution and not when the payment is transmitted by your financial institution. If your payment isn’t received in the City’s account by the due date it will be considered late and will be subject to a 10% penalty.
By Mail
Cheques can be mailed to the City of Fernie, PO Box 190, Fernie, BC, V0B 1M0. Mailed payments must be received by the due date to avoid a 10% penalty. Postmarks will not be considered as date of payment. Cheques postdated to the due date will be accepted.
At your Financial Institution
You can pay your property taxes online and in person at most major financial institutions.
In Person at City Hall
Cash, cheque and debit/credit card* payments can be made in person at City Hall Monday to Friday during regular office hours excluding statutory holidays. After hours cheques can be dropped in the mail slot in the front door of City Hall. Cheques received prior to the due date and postdated to the due date will be accepted.
All eligible property owners must complete the Homeowner Grant application every year to avoid a penalty.
The city is no longer able to process applications for homeowner grants; you must apply directly to the province here.
