The Cranbrook Fire Department is conducting training exercises at the former Claydon Villa building on 2nd Street South.
The city says the building is currently vacant and scheduled for demolition later this spring.
Fire Chief Scott Driver says the site provides an opportunity for firefighters to train in a different environment.
Residents in the area may notice increased activity, including fire apparatus and crews in full gear, while exercises are underway.
Officials say the training is planned and controlled and is expected to continue until the building is demolished.
The property is slated for future housing development.
