While parts of BC’s central interior are dealing with a breakout of wildfires, we here in the East Kootenay are in relatively good shape.
Kim Wright, a wildfire information officer with the Southeast Fire Centre in Castlegar, says we’ve been lucky with getting just enough rain and snow in recent weeks.
With temperatures rising, however, we’re just going to need a lot more of it starting next month…
Fire danger ratings for the southeast region vary from LOW to VERY LOW but forecast winds this week could quickly dry things out, again.
As of Tuesday morning, the Southeast Fire Centre had no wildfires to report.
