New office building to bring new energy to Teck teams throughout Elk Valley
A new zero-carbon office building in development in Sparwood will help bring employees with Teck Resources together under one roof.
This from Teck’s Manager of Social Responsibility Rory O’Connor following a groundbreaking ceremony for Teck’s new office in development.
The facility is expected to house 580 Teck employees in the Elk Valley in one space when its completed by 2025.
O’Connor says this includes office staff spread out throughout numerous buildings in the Elk Valley community.
“That office space will cover folks in all parts of our business, mostly administration, centrally-based office folks that are not up in the mines, with functions like finance, IT, sustainable development,” O’Connor says. “People in water quality work, people on my team, social responsibility.”
O’Connor adds the facility will allow for more collaboration between their teams currently spread out throughout the Elk Valley.
“Currently we have people spread out across 11 offices here in Sparwood,” O’Connor says. “So bringing everyone together will really allow for a lot more in-person discussion, face time, team building and just social connection. We think that will bring a really incredible benefit to the energy levels and productivity within the teams across our operations. ”
The new facility will cover 121,500 square feet and is expected to minimize greenhouse gas emissions from building materials and operations.
