Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement, warning that localized flooding is possible in the East Kootenay due to heavy rain and thunderstorms.
Forecasters expect thunderstorms in the East Kootenay late Tuesday night and throughout Wednesday.
They say up to 50 millimeters of rain is possible over the course of the storm, which could cause reduced visibility from heavy bursts of rain and small debris flows on local roadways.
The heavy rain could also lead to pooling water on roads, along with rapidly rising creeks and rivers.
Environment Canada expects the heavy rain to ease into a few showers Wednesday afternoon as the storm front moves into eastern Montana.
