Owner and president Nathan Lieuwen is the winner of the BCHL’s Executive of the Year award for the 2022-23 season.
In their third BCHL season, the Bucks posted franchise records for wins (36) and points (76).
Off the ice, Lieuwen has been building the Kootenay Hockey Academy which is set to begin operations next season. This will give local families an option to have their kids play hockey at the academy level without having to leave town.
He views the award as a reflection of the organization’s success on and off the ice.
“I see it more as an organizational award,” Lieuwen says. “There’s so many people who do so much for this organization to make it what it is.”
Lieuwen joins head coach Ryan Donald and goaltender Nathan Airey as members of the Bucks organization who have been recognized by the BCHL through their year-end awards, Donald earned Coach of the Year while Airey was minted at the league’s top goalie.
The Bucks are thanking Lieuwen and his wife Breanne for their leadership since the hockey club launched in 2019, and for their dedication to the community.
