The City of Kimberly says it has made the regrettable decision to remove the red maple tree, Acer Rubrum, at Rotary Park.
The City says the removal is due to significant damage that occurred in the fall, as “The tree experienced major branch failure.” leading to safety concerns and further issues in the future.
City officials say an ISA Certified Arborist and Qualified Tree Assessor was brought in and “Found bark defects, poor trunk to branch ratio and numerous pieces of deadwood in the canopy.”
However, the City says they are “Committed to replacing the tree soon.”
