Creston teacher charged following allegations of sexual offences against two students

Police say a teacher from Creston’s Kootenay River Secondary School has been arrested for allegations of sexual offences against two students.

Creston RCMP say Kianuko Wayne Louie was arrested and formally charged on September 8 for offences including sexual exploitation, sexual assault, criminal harassment, extortion and more.

RCMP say it’s alleged that Louie engaged in these offences while teaching at the high school in Creston between October 2022 and June 2023.

Louie has been released from custody on numerous bail conditions, his next court date is September 28.

A teacher from Kootenay River Secondary School has been arrested for allegations of sexual offences against two students.

On September 8th, 2023, Kianuko Wayne Louie was formally charged with Sexual Exploitation, Sexual Assault, Criminal Harassment, Extortion, Telecommunications to lure a child under 18, and Possessing Child Pornography, under the Criminal Code of Canada.

It’s being alleged that while he was teaching at Kootenay River Secondary between October 2022 and June 2023, Louie engaged in these offences with students.

Louie was released from custody on numerous bail conditions, which include having no contact with the two victims. Additionally, he is not to go to any public park, school grounds, where persons under the age of 18 are reasonably expected to be present.

His next court appearance is on September 28th, 2023.

“Some communications occurred over the internet, and possibly social media. Given this, it may be possible that other individuals may have knowledge of these offences, and simply haven’t come forward yet”, said S/Sgt. Brandon Buliziuk, Creston Detachment Commander. “Police are wanting anyone who may have any knowledge of these offences to please come forward”.

“We recognize the profound impact such revelations may have on our community and the distress it can cause”, explains S/Sgt. Buliziuk. “We’re urging anyone with information, or those who may have been directly affected, to come forward.”
