WildSafeBC warning Kimberley hikers following encounters with bluff charging black bear
WildSafeBC is warning residents in Kimberley after several black bear encounters in the Nordic Trails.
The environmental group posted Monday, June 26 that there have been a number of encounters with a sow and two cubs, with the sow displaying defensive behaviour and bluff charging people with or without dogs.
A highlighted map where the black bear has been seen is available on our website.
WildSafeBC Kimberley-Cranbrook is warning residents to stay clear of the highlighted area until the bears move on.
The Kimberley Trails Society is also placing signage near the area to warn hikers to steer clear.
If you have an encounter with a bear or problem wildlife, be sure to report it to the BC Conservation Officer service’s RAPP line at 1-877-952-7277.
