Columbia Valley SAR supports injured hiker, paraglider in back-to-back calls
Two back to back calls for help kept the Columbia Valley Search and Rescue busy on Sunday.
The BC Ambulance Service needed support from SAR crews for a medical response on a hiking trail near Invermere.
Search teams were able to locate and transport the patient for treatment.
Another call came in shortly after that, with an injured paraglider needing support on Lake Windermere.
RCMP say a malfunction made the non-powered paraglider descend at a high rate of speed, colliding with the embankment next to the railway tracks.
The paraglider had minor injuries and was transported to the hospital locally with the help of Glacier Helicopters.
