City of Kimberley calls for caution as river levels run extremely high

The City of Kimberley is urging residents to stay safe, as water levels on local rivers and streams is very high.

The BC River Forecast Centre recently downgraded a flood watch throughout the East Kootenay region to a high streamflow advisory.

City staff say your safety matters and all residents should stay clear of creek banks at this time, as rapid, unpredictable changes are possible.

Residents should also keep an eye out for children, pets or vulnerable individuals who might be near the bank.
