Animal rescue groups warn of skunks preparing Springtime dens at Columbia Valley homes
Animal rescue groups in the East Kootenay are warning residents to watch out for wildlife making dens in your home to have their young.
The Little Mittens Animal Rescue Association has been receiving calls about removing skunks from properties in the Columbia Valley.
The group says they cannot remove the animals and do not recommend their removal at this time of year, as they may have already had their babies.
The association does provide tips on deterring skunks from your home, including leaving your outdoor lights on and placing mothballs at the entrances to known dens.
Residents are also encouraged to seal off any potential entrances to your home before any skunks can move in.
