Pump failure leaves Elko without water

Elko residents are without water following a pump failure, with crews working on repairs Thursday morning, Nov. 5.

The Regional District of East Kootenay (RDEK) initially believed an electrical fault caused low water pressure. Service was restored after the fault was repaired.

Water was back on only briefly before a pump failure caused another outage.

Crews are on site, but there is no timeline for restoring service.

The RDEK says it will share further updates on its website and through the Elko Email Group as more information becomes available.

Residents are asked not to call the emergency line for updates, as it is reserved for emergency calls.
