A Sparwood woman has been charged with manslaughter following the conclusion of an investigation into a death in November last year.
The Elk Valley RCMP were called on Nov. 2, 2025, to the A&W on Aspen Drive in Sparwood, where a 49-year-old man had been struck and killed by a grey 2017 Toyota Tundra.
Despite efforts from first responders, the man died of his injuries at the scene.
Due to the circumstances surrounding the death, the Southeast District Major Crime Unit assumed conduct of the investigation.
On Wednesday (Oct. 28), the Sparwood woman was arrested and charged with one count of manslaughter in relation to the death.
The court documents have marked the case as a âKâ file, which in British Columbia courts stands for an Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) or domestic violence case.
“This charge is the result of an extensive investigation by our officers and policing partners,” said Sgt. Simon Caruth of the Southeast District Major Crime Unit.
“We would like to thank the public for the information provided throughout this investigation, as well as our policing partners whose support was invaluable.”
As the matter is now before the courts, no further details will be released.
