School trustee election update in Kimberley

The City of City has identified and corrected an error in the preliminary School Trustee election results.

Below is a media release by the City of Kimberley.

“Glenna McClenahan received 1,808 votes and was elected as the third School Trustee. In an effort to report preliminary results in a timely manner, staff preparing communications incorrectly transposed the name of the School Trustee-elect provided by the Chief Election Officer.

“Betty Lou Barrett was incorrectly reported as receiving 1,808 votes and being elected. The correct result is that Glenna McClenahan was elected. This morning, while reviewing communications, staff identified the error and updated the City’s website and
social media with the correct information.

“The preliminary results reported to CivicInfo BC by the Chief Election Officer are correct, and are available at https://localelections.ca/election_candidates/201_2026_candidates.html

“We sincerely apologize to Betty Lou, Glenna and the community for this mistake. We recognize the significance of an error of this nature and regret the confusion it caused.

“Chief Election Officer Maryse Leroux will declare the official election results on Wednesday, October 21, 2026.”
