The inaugural BCHC regular season has begun, with two East Kootenay teams beginning their campaigns tonight (Sept. 18) on the road.
In April, it was announced that the BCHC will become B.C.’s sanctioned Junior A league starting in the fall.
The new league will include 22 teams across three divisions, including 14 current Kootenay International Junior Hockey League teams.
In the Kootenay Division, teams will include Beaver Valley, Fernie, Kimberley, Nelson, Grand Forks and the Columbia Valley.
The Dynamiters won the KIJHL Championship in April, and the league is now defunct.
Kimberley will travel to Nelson to take on the Leafs in a rematch of last week’s final preseason game, which the Dynamiters won 5-0.
Fernie travels to Grand Forks to take on the Border Bruins after finishing their preseason with a 7-2 win over Columbia Valley last week.
Puck will drop at 8 p.m. for both games.
The Nitros will head to Grand Forks Saturday (Sept.19) to take on the Border Bruins. Meanwhile, the Ghostriders will be in Beaver Valley on Saturday (Sept. 19) to face the Nitehawks.
