New affordable housing units in Sparwood now taking tenant applications

Sparwood residents seeking more affordable housing may now have new options as one rental complex gears up to open in early 2027.

Timber’s Landing Phase 2, located at 441 Pine Avenue next to the original Timber’s Landing building, will have one- to three-bedroom suites, with a mix of market rental, Rent Geared to Income, and Deep Discount units.

The Elk Valley Family Society has partnered with the B.C. government to secure 32 homes for individuals, single women with children and people with disabilities in 2024.

“Timber’s Landing Phase 2 means more families, seniors, and individuals in Sparwood will have access to safe, affordable housing close to home,” said EVFS Executive Director Katey Taylor. 

“We’re proud to keep building on the momentum of the original Timber’s Landing, and grateful to all our partners who continue to make projects like this possible in the Elk Valley.”

The first Timber’s Landing opened in 2023. Tenant applications are open for Phase 2, with prospective renters expected to move in by early to mid-February.
