More than $1.8 million has been raised between April 2025 and March 2026 for the East Kootenay Foundation for Health.
The East Kootenay Foundation for Health (EKFH) released its 2025-2026 Impact Report this week.
The report says more than $1.8 million was raised through over 1,150 donations and community events to improve health care across East Kootenay.
These funds supported health care improvements across the region, including:
- New ultrasound service in Invermere
- New portable ultrasounds for the Elkford Health Centre, Sparwood Health Centre, and the Golden & District Hospital
- New equipment and patient comforts at facilities across East Kootenay
- An expanded JoeAnna’s House plans to build a hospice home in the East Kootenay, and the upcoming EKRH Oncology/Renal expansion.
In Cranbrook, fundraising efforts resulted in $21,000 needed towards a Tovertafel Projector to bring smiles, brightness, and interactive, resident-friendly fun and games to the FW Green Home.
The annual Opa Northstar Golf Tournament in support of Hospice and the East Kootenay Regional Hospital raised over $300,000 in support of health care over the years.
In Fernie, the annual Feast for a Cause was sold out to support cardiac equipment at the Elk Valley Hospital.
In Kimberley, an amazing turnout of over 350 guests joined atop the Kimberley Alpine Resort for Trio on the Mountain in support of building a hospice home in the East Kootenay.
One of EKFH’s major campaigns is partnering with the Cranbrook Kimberley Hospice Society to build a standalone Hospice Home in Cranbrook.
This week, Cranbrook City Council directed staff to explore options for potential land donation for the Hospice Home.
