Hometown 4 Hunger is returning to Cranbrook, bringing the community together once again to raise money and help tackle hunger across the city.
The Community Foundation of the Kootenay Rockies (CFKR) and Denham Ford are joining together for the 11th annual Hometown 4 Hunger to raise funds to combat hunger.
Join the community at Denham Ford on August 12 between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.
The event will raise funds to help grow CFKR’s StellerVista Credit Union Fund, which provides a grant every year to the local Cranbrook Salvation food programs.
“So they do an amazing job with their school breakfast program, their school lunch program as well, and their community meals, which include outreach to people who cannot leave their homes,” said Lynnette Wray, Executive Director, CFKR and Cranbrook Councillor.
There will be local food trucks, a dunk tank, eating contests and classic cars on show from the Rockin’ in the Rockies Car Club.
“This year, I believe our grant was over $5,000. The need continues to grow, and by doing this event, we continue to grow our fund and can increase our support,’ adds Wray.
“We don’t want people in Cranbrook to go hungry. That’s not acceptable in our community.”
