It’s the 159th birthday of Canada Day tomorrow (July 1), and there are plenty of festivities scheduled throughout the East Kootenay.
Events are planned throughout East Kootenay, including Cranbrook, Elkford, Fernie, Kimberley, and Sparwood.

Cranbrook
In Cranbrook, head down to Rotary Park for a family-friendly afternoon with food trucks, live music, a car show and activities for all ages from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Elkford
The District of Elkford will be hosting a free Canada Day BBQ serving up burgers, hot dogs and chips. There will also be live music from Lord Knows Music with the event kicking off at 12 p.m. For more information, click here.

Fernie
If you’re in Fernie, start your morning off at the Seniors’ Centre for a pancake breakfast from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. There will be a Fernie Mountain Market, food trucks and live music on the Wapiti Main Stage all afternoon long at the City Hall grounds.

Kimberley
The place to be in Kimberley is Centre 64 for live music, face-painting, and an artisan market. Festivities kickoff from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Sparwood
Sparwood Council will be hosting Canada Day at Centennial Plaza from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. The afternoon will include live music, a free BBQ & cupcakes, Kids Fest and fun games hosted by the Sparwood Fire Department.
