Fernie is looking to cut down unwanted growth across its grounds this spring.
Starting Friday, May 29, on-the-ground treatment to combat invasive and noxious weeds across the City is set to begin.
“Invasive and noxious weeds are all around the East Kootenays and pose a threat to wildlife, the environment, and recreational areas,” said the City.
“Under the Province’s Weed Control Act, the City is responsible for treating and preventing noxious and invasive weeds on public land within city limits.”
Treatment areas will be determined by the type and severity of infestation, and any priority areas will be signed two days before being treated this year.
Work will be conducted over the coming weeks.
