The City of Cranbrook has extended the Permissive Tax Exemptions application deadline for charitable and not-for-profit organizations to May 31.
Grants are open to organizations that the City finds enhance the quality of life for Cranbrook citizens.
Eligible Council endorsed priorities include:
- Special Needs and Supportive Housing Properties
- Social Service Properties
- Arts & Cultural Facilities
- Emergency Rescue Services
- Places of Worship
- Athletic or Recreational Facilities
- Environmental Protection.
Tax exemptions are at Council’s discretion and can be granted wholly or partly on an eligible property, for a period that Council feels is appropriate.
Applicants must own the land and improvements or lease the property directly from the City.
Permissive property tax exemptions do not extend to water and sewer frontage taxes.
Completed applications and all supporting documentation must be received at City Hall before May 31.
No late submissions will be accepted.
