The City of Kimberley is warning residents about a scam involving fake parking tickets.
According to the City, several residents have reported receiving text messages claiming they have an outstanding parking ticket and must click a link to make a payment or face additional fines.
The City says these messages are a scam and are not being sent by the municipality.
The City of Kimberley does not send text messages regarding outstanding fines, nor does it request payment through links sent by text.
Officials advise anyone who receives such a message not to click any links and to delete it immediately.
Residents with questions or those wishing to verify any communication claiming to be from the City are encouraged to contact City Hall directly at 250-427-5311.
The City also encourages residents to share this information with friends, family, and neighbours to help prevent others from falling victim to the scam.
