Cranbrook reminds residents of upcoming water advisory
The City of Cranbrook is reminding residents of an upcoming water quality advisory.
The city will conduct inspections of the main water trunk from March 2 to March 6, between 7:30 a.m. and 9 p.m. daily.
The main water trunk is the primary supply line running from Phillips Reservoir to Cranbrook.
The inspection is intended to assess the condition of the pipe, help plan repairs before problems occur and establish updated timelines for future replacement.
City officials say the assessment will help reduce the risk of a catastrophic failure and could extend the life of the infrastructure.
During the inspection period, the city and the Interior Health Authority will issue a water quality advisory.
The City says residents may notice pressure changes, increased turbidity or cloudy water, as well as elevated manganese levels.
Interior Health and the city recommend that children, seniors, people with weakened immune systems, and anyone seeking additional protection use boiled water or a safe alternative for drinking, washing fruits and vegetables, making beverages or ice, and brushing their teeth. Water should be brought to a rolling boil for at least one minute before use.
The city says it will continue to monitor water quality throughout the project and provide updates as needed.
