The driver of a dump truck was airlifted to hospital in Calgary by STARS Air Ambulance Thursday evening (Aug.21) after a single-vehicle rollover near Edwards Lake in the Grasmere area.
Elk Valley and South Country Rural Fire & Rescue says the truck, which was carrying asphalt, rolled on Dorr Road just before 6 p.m.
Six firefighters from Jaffray and six from Elko responded and worked for more than two hours to free the lone driver.
“Our members worked as quickly as possible to secure the scene and safely extricate the lone occupant,” said Fire Chief Michael Hockley.
“I am proud of the whole team for the way they came together in a complex environment to safely extricate the driver.”
STARS was able to land at the site and fly the patient to hospital for further assessment and treatment.
