Wildfire risk reduction work west of Tie Lake is set to begin this month. The Rocky Mountain Forest District’s Crown Land Wildfire Risk Reduction Program will reduce fuel on 64.6 hectares of Crown land west of the lake.
The program targets areas near communities and critical infrastructure to create safe, defensible ground for crews fighting wildfires.
The work is scheduled as follows:
- Cutting and skidding will begin in November 2026 and continue through the winter. Most activities are expected to be completed by spring 2027, except hauling, pile burning and road and landing rehabilitation.
- Work is scheduled between 7 a.m. and 10 p.m. and may take place on weekends and holidays.
Residents are asked to avoid active worksites, where heavy equipment including feller bunchers, skidders, processors and excavators will be operating.
Questions about the work can be directed to Trevor Campbell with the Ministry of Forests at Trevor.Campbell@gov.bc.ca.
