Angel Flight gets another year of funding from B.C. government
Angel Flight will stay in the skies for at least one more year after new funding from the province.
Columbia River-Revelstoke MLA Scott McInnis shared the news on Tuesday, later adding that the medical flight service was granted $250,000 in annual financial support.
“[It’s] not all of what we were asking for, which is a multi-year funding commitment,” said McInnis. “However, another year will ensure that those operations are sustained and people will get the care they so deserve and need.”
He added that the agency did nearly 600 flights for East Kootenay residents in 2025.
The announcement comes after the Kootenay East Regional Hospital District approved a funding request from Angel Flight in December, committing a total of $750,000 divided evenly over five years.
The Regional District of East Kootenay previously had a five-year agreement with the service that ended in 2025. The existing annual funding agreement with the province ended in March this year, and there had been no word on a renewal until now.
