Fernie’s mayor ‘not comfortable’ re-opening community centre

Despite calls by some in the community to find a way to re-open Fernie’s community centre, Council is remaining steadfast on keeping it closed.

Mayor Nic Milligan, during last Tuesday’s council meeting, said he can’t support anything that would put users, particularly kids, in any danger…

One possibility might be a section of land beside the Aquatic Centre.

A working group established to look into options is scheduled to address Council in a Committee-of-the-Whole meeting Tuesday evening.
