Former Fernie mayor, councillor passes away

The City of Fernie has lost a well-known community champion.

Former mayor and councillor Mary Giuliano passed away on Saturday.

In a Facebook posting, current mayor Nic Milligan called it a very sad day.

“Mary truly loved this community and served it countless ways. She will be deeply missed. Deepest condolences to her family and countless friends.”

Giuliano served as mayor from 2011 to 2018 and as councillor from 2002 to 2011.

She was 79.
