June fundraiser set for East Kootenay NICU
It’s being billed as A Night for NICU – a collaborative effort between the Province of BC, Kootenay East Regional Hospital District, East Kootenay Foundation for Health, and Bearspaw Community First.
Organizers of the event are hoping to create a Tier 3 Neonatal Intensive Care unit at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital in Cranbrook.
As the description ‘neonatal’ would suggest, its focus is on premature and newborns with complications.
Billie Jo Aasen with The Festival Company explains the importance of having such a program, versus the alternative of having a mother airlifted to Kelowna or even Vancouver…
The goal for A Night for NICU is to raise $1.8 million of the 3.18 million that’s needed to make it a reality.
To raise part of the money, the event is featuring a country concert with some of Canada’s biggest names.
Aasen points out the event is a private , so last-minute tickets won’t be available.
It’s set for June 15th at the Demolition Grounds in Fernie.
