A group of students at Invermere’s David Thompson Secondary are learning the value of civic engagement.
The 18, which include members of the school’s climate club and drama class, have already put out survey to their fellow classmates and the community gauging their thoughts on the Columbia Valley Public Transit Project.
Questions centered around knowledge of the current system, if they use public transit, and what improvements they would like to see.
159 responses came back.
Face-to-face meetings were also held with international students, business owners, and seniors in the community.
A presentation is planned for tomorrow by the students to the Regional District of the East Kootenay’s Columbia Valley Services Committee which, as it turns out, is chaired by the mayor of Invermere, Al Miller.
