?aq’am First Nation wildfire prepared

Following last year’s large blaze, the head of the ?aq’am First Nation says his community has done what it can to prepare for the potential of wildfire.

Chief Pierre added his staff is in regular contact with both the BC Wildfire Service and Regional District of East Kootenay; in some cases, knowing them on a first-name basis.

Five homes in the community were lost last year due to the St. Mary’s Fire.
