Appeal to be extra bear aware

With the snow all-but-gone, and temperatures reaching into the 20’s on the weekend, bears are starting to wake up from their long winter naps.
The B.C. Wildlife Service, and others, are asking that you look around in your back yard to see if there’s anything that might attract a curious and, at this time of year, a hungry bear.
Recommendations include washing any outside containers that might have contained food or a recyclable product, like a juice bottle.
Bird feeders are also a big draw.
Experts warn that bears have a better sense of smell that most domestic animals, including your dog.
