One person dead following collision in Sparwood Tuesday

Elk Valley RCMP say one person has died following a vehicle collision in Sparwood Tuesday night.
Police were alerted of the incident at Highway 3 near Red Cedar Drive around 9:55 pm and determined a Dodge pickup truck and Jeep Cherokee had a head on collision.
RCMP found the 19-year old Jeep driver with no vital signs, efforts to resuscitate him were not successful and he was declared deceased on scene.
Witnesses told police the Jeep was heading northbound and swerved into the southbound lane prior to the collision.

On December 12th, 2023 at 9:55 PM, Elk Valley Regional RCMP received a report of a motor vehicle collision at Highway 3 near Red Cedar Dr, in Sparwood, BC. RCMP along with BC Ambulance Service and Sparwood Fire Rescue attended and determined there was a head-on collision between a Dodge pickup truck and Jeep Cherokee. The 19 year old driver of the Jeep was found to be with no vital signs – he was extracted from the vehicle and attempts were made to resuscitate him through CPR and the use of an AED however they were unsuccessful, and he was declared deceased on scene. Several independent witnesses reported seeing the north-bound Jeep swerve into the on-coming southbound lane prior the collision. Highway 3 was closed for several hours pending the investigation, and traffic temporarily re-routed through Sparwood.
