Purcell Collegiate begins classes Wednesday
Class is in session for a new East Kootenay school this week.
Purcell Collegiate School is beginning operations at its temporary location at St. Eugene Mission Resort and College of the Rockies.
School head Duncan Macleod is thankful for the Community of ʔaq’am’s hospitality, the school’s core campus will be located near Purcell Golf Course in Kimberley when construction is finished by 2026.
“The ʔaq’am Community has been a really strong partner for Purcell Collegiate,” Macleod says. “It’s an infusing input for us in terms of our ability to work with and to engage the Truth and Reconciliation process at a foundational level.”
First day of classes for grades 7-12 students is Wednesday.
The new international boarding school is aiming to gain a population of 60 students for its first year.
