Elkford Fire investigates possible man-made fires on trails north of community
Elkford Fire and Emergency Services responded to three fires along the Elk River Forest Service Road Sunday that they believe were man-made.
A bush fire was reported Sunday around 5:00 p.m. about two kilometres north of Elkford.
Elkford Fire responded with a brush unit and engine, along with a water tender on standby.
Fire crews found three separate fires burning in different locations around a trail. Upon further investigation, the fires appear to be human-caused.
No word on any suspects involved in this incident. Residents are asked to report any wildfires, smoke columns or illegal burning they discover immediately by dialing *5555 on your cell phone.
