Significantly reduced activity reported from St Mary’s River Wildfire Thursday: BC Wildfire Service
The BC Wildfire Service is reporting a significant reduction in fire activity from the 850 hectare St Mary’s River wildfire.
The latest update from fire crews says the reduced activity is due to winds subsiding in the early morning hours Thursday, lower temperatures and increased humidity.
Rank one and two fire behaviour was also seen from the blaze Thursday morning, with generally smouldering conditions or low vigour surface fires reported.
The BC Wildfire Service will have a response officer flying over the site to take an aerial track of the growth.
The fire size is expected to increase again once the aerial track is complete.
