Wildfire near Radium grows, several small blazes active in East Kootenay
A wildfire east of Radium Hot Springs has tripled in size over the last week.
As of Sunday, the lightning caused wildfire near Yearling Creek is estimated at 30 hectares, it was discovered last week and was measured at 10.7 hectares as of July 10.
The BC Wildfire Service says that blaze is classified as out of control.
Meanwhile, the BC Wildfire Service has identified four small blazes scattered east and west of Lake Koocanusa near the US border, all of those fires are at 1 hectare or smaller.
There is also a 0.6 hectare lightning caused fire by Cherry Creek which is listed as under control, and an out of control fire is burning in the Lost Dog area northeast of Kimberley at 0.3 hectares.
