Last day for feedback for Kimberley’s Downtown Urban Design Strategy
Kimberley residents have one more day to give their feedback on development of the downtown area.
Feedback on Kimberley’s Downtown Urban Design Strategy will be collected until the end of Friday, July 7.
City staff are so far pleased with the response from community members coming out for their “Keeping it Kimberley” open houses.
Manager of planning and sustainability Troy Pollock says they’ve had a good turnout to their open house events.
“We’re quite happy with the response. Next stage would be to take all of the feedback that we hear at this round of engagement, further refine the downtown concepts and take that back to a yet unscheduled meeting of council for final review,” Pollock said.
Pollock says proposed plans for the community’s downtown and the layout of streets and walking paths have been well received by residents.
“A lot of people really like our Kimberley downtown area, its got some unique aspects already” Pollock said. “We’re trying to make sure that we keep all the great stuff and make all the other stuff even better. Its always encouraging to see the support from the community and the interest from the community in that regard.”
Some of the areas being discussed through the strategy are layouts for Ross Street, Howard Street and Kimberley Avenue, along with how parking should be handled along those streets.
No word on when an updated plan will be presented at city hall.
