Update: Kootenay Pass at single, alternating lanes following mudslide closure

DriveBC is reporting traffic is open to single, alternating lanes along Highway 3 on the Kootenay Pass following a mudslide Wednesday night.
Wednesday’s slide caused the Kootenay Pass to be closed through most of Thursday.
An assessment is in progress and drivers are advised to watch for falling rocks.

A mudslide Wednesday night has blocked Highway 3 west of Creston.
Drive BC says the slide happened on the Kootenay Pass between Motel Avenue and Hood Road.
An assessment of the highway is in progress, with Drive BC expected to provide an update around 11:00 am Thursday morning.
Drivers are advised that the Kootenay Lake Ferry is operating throughout the day from the Balfour Terminal to Kootenay Bay.
