Fire crews respond to fuel spill in Jaffray

The Jaffray Fire Department responded to a fuel spill at a commercial location in Jaffray Saturday morning.
Fire crews were able to determine that well over 2,000 litres of diesel fuel spilled while being loaded into an above-ground tank.
South Country Rural Fire & Rescue Deputy Chief Ben Goertzen says because of the incident, an evacuation was issued for the affected gas station, store and parking lot.
Firefighters secured the scene and remained on site while the spill was being cleaned up
A vac truck was also on site and a hazardous materials team was sent from Calgary to complete the clean up.
Seven Jaffray firefighters and four apparatus initially responded to the call, and an additional crew from Elko is now on site to help provide relief throughout the clean up.
