Architectural design funding for new Canal Flats community hall included in 2024 budget

Planning for a new community hall in Canal Flats is officially on the books for 2024.

Canal Flats council unanimously agreed to include $50,000 in the 2024 budget for an architectural design of a new community hall.

The decision followed a plebiscite around the facility from October 2022’s municipal election, showing the majority of voters approved of the village building a new community hall.

While a plebiscite is non-binding, village staff recommended including the item in the five-year financial plan for 2024, which all members of village council approved.

The decision will have no effect on taxation or Canal Flat’s budget this year.
