Fernie Red Apple raises over $7,000 in annual toy drive
A store in Fernie raised over $7,000 as part of an annual toy drive which aims to help spread holiday cheer.
The Red Apple in Fernie participated in the company’s annual toy drive to purchase toys for children for the holidays, collecting $7,294 over three weeks.
Manager Brianne Beagley says the funds were used to buy toys which will be distributed by the Fernie Salvation Army.
“Just to give back and help the community,” says Beagley. “We’re all about community events and giving back. Anything we can do to help to make people’s holidays better, we try to help that.”
Beagley says the toys will be bought from Red Apple.
“All of the cash donations, we get the allotted amount in two separate amounts and we shop in the store for the toys,” She says. “And then the 10% of sales from the last day, that is a cash donation that [The Salvation Army] can choose to do with it, what they decide.”
In total, the Fernie Red Apple raised $7,294 plus $594 from cash sales from the last day of the toy drive.
